Governor Wada Grants N175m Scholarship To Kogi Indigent Students
Kogi state governor, Capt. Idris Wada has approved disbursement of the
sum of N175, 416,000 as scholarship to over 46,336 students in 109
institutions across the country.
Governor Wada who disclosed
this while receiving the chairman Kogi state scholarship board, Dr.
Rekiya Momoh-Abaji and other members of the board stated that it is to
boost the morale of Kogi state indigenes in all the tertiary
institutions.
The Kogi state
scholarship board which was inaugurated on the assumption of office by
the present administration was saddled with the responsibility to
disburse the approved fund to all Kogi indigenes in various institutions
in the country.
The chairman of the board Dr. Rekiya
Momoh-Abaji who stated that the board under her leadership has took
meticulous time with all sense of responsibility to examine the list
they met at the board, hinted there is a feeling that the list is
vulnerable to having some stale and inadmissible names because the list
was typed at a business centres outside the board.
While
receiving the document which contained names of all Kogi state students
across the country from her, the governor stressed that the board must
ensure that genuine students get the bursary allowance, noting that
government is prepared to assist serious students as future leaders.
He also stated that the state government will take the issue of bursary
allowance to students in tertiary institutions across the country very
seriously.
On some of the problems confronting the board, the
governor noted that the state government will address the various
problems confronting them.
